Explore The Hands of Time in Victoria!

Enjoy spring weather in Victoria BC on The Hands of Time public art walking tour in downtown Victoria!

(April 2023)

The Hands of Time consists of 12 bronze sculptures that depict life-size hands engaged in activities symbolic of Victoria’s past. The three-dimensional hands vary in culture, age and gender, and quietly convey eras and stories of Victoria.

The artist, Crystal Przybille, created each unique piece depicting hands carving a canoe paddle, holding a railway spike, performing with a fan, carrying blankets, and our favourite, holding a mirror which you will find imbedded into the stone wall on the lower causeway below Government Street, on Inner Harbour walkway. Each piece is cast in bronze finished with dark patina!

The 12 bronze sculptures are located around Victoria’s Inner Harbour, with one art piece at City Hall, The Hudson building, along the Songhees Walkway, and another at the top of Beacon Hill at Beacon Hill Park. The artworks can be found on buildings, lamp standards, rocks in landscaped areas, and on bedrock.

Come and explore The Hands of Time in Victoria and enjoy this fabulous public art walking tour!
